Systems Engineer

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Systems Engineer will assist in providing support for network security engineering and the engineering/integration and deployment of networking security technologies to support advanced external threat, insider threat, and cyber operations as well as Trusted Internet Connections.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Perform preventative maintenance on network gear including switches, routers and firewalls 
  • Install software patches, updates, and upgrades to switches, routers and firewalls 
  • Monitor network traffic and optimize network performance 
  • Work closely with security team to harden security layers 
  • Ability to manage DMZ’s, which are used to provide shared services 
  • Design, evaluate and implement DNS Security 
  • Design, evaluate and implement Virtual Private Networking (VPN’s) 
  • Design, evaluate and implement Web proxy technology 
  • Design, evaluate and implement SSL encryption/decryption 
  • Help define overall security strategies and procedures 
  • Define and refine firewall policies 
  • Develop and implement network intrusion detection strategies 
  • Work with the rest of the operations team to monitor stability and performance and ensure 24x7 operation 
  • Monitor vendor and 3rd party security reports/lists and proactively patch vulnerabilities 
  • Perform security reviews and audits Security Engineers by reviewing designs for security issues 
  • Assist in the evaluation of new and emerging products and technologies 

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent 
  • 6+ years experience in an information / network security role at companies with large networks 
  • Strong background in system or network administration 
  • Knowledge of multi-factor / strong authentication technologies and how to implement them in heterogeneous environments 
  • Familiarity with security technologies and issues on both Unix and Windows 
  • Strong Perl or other scripting skills 
  • Should be able to read source code in several languages to scan for security vulnerabilities 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Network Security Engineer

PRIMARY FUNCTION
 

The COMSEC Network Security Engineer will provide operational support and systems administration for the customer’s classified encryption architecture. This team member will work with their team and other responsible entities to provide encryption device management, systems administration, router & switch management, management of the network security environment, engineering analysis, product lifecycle management, support of new installations, future alternate site support, problem management, end-user support, and basic problem diagnosis. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Ability to work core business hours Monday through Friday and in rare cases, handle high-priority alerts on off-hours. 
  • Ensure all classified data transmissions are encrypted by a National Security Agency (NSA) Type 1 encryption device 
  • Follow procedures established in the COMSEC Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve COMSEC network issues 
  • Monitor COMSEC network availability and performance 
  • Recommend actions required for continuity of COMSEC network operations 

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS 

  • 5-8 years of relevant IT experience 
  • Working knowledge of Taclane Type 1 network encryptors and common fill devices 
  • Experience documenting and explaining network systems and topologies 
  • Working knowledge of GEM-X management software 
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, spanning tree, 802.1Q VLAN’s, LAN/WAN, GRE tunnels, routing, switching, QoS, and netflow. 
  • Working Knowledge of Cisco network switches (NX and IOS), routers, and firewalls

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Systems Administrator assists customers to resolve communication errors, server hardware errors, COTS application errors, patch deployment issues, server backups/restores, AD replication errors and any other server or network management troubleshooting. The Systems Administrator shall track all incidents/problems using Microsoft Systems Center Service Manager or similar trouble ticketing system. In addition, provide incident response during non-core business hours as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand/troubleshoot/resolve Enterprise communication/network Errors
  • Understand/troubleshoot/resolve server hardware errors
  • Understand/troubleshoot/resolve COTS application errors

SQL Database Administrator

PRIMARY FUNCTION 

Perform SQL Database Administration and support activities for a Federal Government network. These activities include maintaining a SQL 2014 Data Warehouse as well as supporting the Extract, Transform and Load processes for multiple data sources.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Meets enterprise requirements by planning and developing database structure; developing database utilization policies, procedures, security, backup, and recovery. 
  • Maintains design structure by directing implementation of PL/SQL and SQL standards and guidelines. 
  • Completes platform upgrades and migrations by issuing instructions; monitoring performance; coordinating actions. 
  • Maintains data integrity by establishing standards; monitoring performance. 
  • Maintains database performance by developing tuning methodologies. 
  • Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing database performance and trends. 
  • Develops automated and adhoc reports for Senior Level Executives 
  • Develops and optimizes daily ETL processes 

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 

  • At least 5 years experience 
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL 2008, 2012 or 2014 Data Warehouses 
  • Microsoft SQL Certification desired. 
  • Experience with Microsoft AlwaysOn Availability Groups and Clustering
